Taylor North Little League is a competitive Baseball and Softball program for boys and girls that focuses on player development and team work. Our program is for players between the ages of four through sixteen.

Registration Information:  Registration begins in November each year.
Team tryouts (skills evaluations) are typically held mid March.

The season generally runs from late April until mid June.  Practices begin the end of March or the beginning of April each year.  Each individual Manager set up their own practice dates, times and locations.  We do not know any of this information ahead of time.

Tee-Ball Division: Often a family’s first introduction to Little League, providing a Tee Ball experience that is grounded in fun, fitness, and fundamentals is key to growing a child’s love for the game. Tee-Ball players are ages 4-6.  Players that will turn 4 by August 31 of the current year are also able to play.  Tee-Ball teams are co-ed.  This division is designed for an introduction to sports and being on a team. We do not keep score and there are no umpires.  We try to have a small number of kids (7-9) on each team, allowing the kids more opportunities and it's easier for the coaches to manage. Every player bats every inning.  Safety coated balls are used and coaches are on the field at all times.  It is controlled chaos and a wonderful introduction to baseball.  Parents are strongly encouraged to become involved in this level of Little League. After completing a Little League volunteer application and passing a required national background check, parents may become involved in practices, and be eligible as coaches, managers, umpires, local league board members and other volunteer positions within the league.

Farm Division: This division is instructional. It is the first division in which Players are able to pitch and catch.  Coaches begin to teach the fundamentals of the game.  This division is for players ages 7 and 8.  6-year-olds can also play if they have experience with Tee-Ball.  Pitching distance is 35 feet.  Pitch counts (innings pitched for softball) are strictly enforced.  There is a 5 run limit per inning and game time limit, players can steal bases except for home.  Baseball uses a safety coated ball, softball uses an 11" softball.  One coach (and two base coaches) is allowed to be on the field at all times. Players in this division can be eligible for tournament play after the regular season if they are selected.

Minor Division:  Players in this division are ages 8-10.  Rosters may be composed of between 12 and 20 players, but most leagues have rosters in the 12-15 range. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 46 feet for baseball and 35 feet for softball. Pitch counts (innings pitched for softball) are strictly enforced.  opportunities are available for players league-age 8-10 and 9-11.  This age division is a more competitive version of the Farm division.  Players will be still be taught beginning fundaments, but also introduced to intermediate concepts.   Players can steal all bases including home.  Baseball uses a regulation hardball, softball uses an 11" softball.  Coaches are not permitted on the field (except for base coaches).  Players in this division can be eligible for district and state tournament play.

Major Division:  Regular season players in the Little League Baseball Major Division have the opportunity to dual roster, meaning he/she can play in the Little League Major Baseball Division and Intermediate 50/70 Division during the same season. Achieving tournament eligibility is possible in either division, but a player must choose one division of play to participate in during the tournament season. The culmination of the International Tournament is the Little League Baseball World Series, featuring teams from around the world. All expenses for the teams advancing to the World Series (travel, meals and housing) are paid by Little League International.  Players are ages 11-12.  Baseball will pitch from 46 feet, softball will pitch from 40 feet.  Pitch counts (innings pitched for softball) are strictly enforced. Players can steal all bases including home.  Teams in this division can also be eligible for the District 5 Tournament of Champions. This tournament consists of all the first place teams in each District 5 league.

Intermediate (50/70) Division:  The Intermediate (50/70) Baseball Division was introduced in January, 2010, as a pilot program for 12- and 13-year-olds which utilizes a 50-foot pitching distance and 70-foot base paths.  The division, which was new division of Little League Baseball in 2013 for players league-age 12-13 with postseason tournament opportunities, including a World Series, offers a transition for players between the standard Little League field size (46-foot pitching distance and 60-foot base paths) and the Junior/Senior field size (60-foot, 6-inch pitching distance and 90-foot base paths).  Regular season players in the Little League Intermediate 50/70 Baseball Division have the opportunity to dual roster, meaning he/she can play in the Little League Major Baseball Division during the same season. Achieving tournament eligibility is possible in either division, but a player must choose one division of play to participate in during the tournament season.  Many of the Junior League rules are used such as runners being permitted to lead off bases, runners may attempt to steal at any time, and allowing an on-deck batter. The culmination of the International Tournament is the Intermediate (50/70) Baseball World Series, featuring teams from around the world. All expenses for the teams advancing to the  World Series (travel, meals and housing) are paid by Little League International.

Junior Division:  This division is for boys and girls ages 13 and 14.  We have separate divisions for baseball and softball.  Games begin after the high school season is over which is usually June.  Baseball is a using a conventional 90-foot diamond with a pitching distance of 60 feet, 6 inches.  Softball will pitch from 43 feet.  Baseball uses a regulation hardball, softball uses a 12" softball.
